Don: Cats will usually not hang around a property unless they are getting fed, or there is a nice spot to cover their waste. We are avid gardeners, have cats and have rodents on ocasion. All summer I keep a plot of soil tilled weekly for getting rid of all compostables from the house. This loose soil also makes a very nice spot for cats to bury their waste. They will choose the easiest digging in the neighborhood. I don't particularly care for cats, but see them as necessary. I truly dislike the rodents they keep cleaned up. I know my plot of weekly tilled soil keeps the cats out of our own garden. It also gives me another excuse to get the tractor out.
