I am now the lucky owner of a '58 Ford 650 which I bought in mid "restoration". The basic engine, transmission, diff, wheels are intact, but the carb, starter, alternator, etc are all off, as well as all wiring. So- i have the task of basically building up the electrical system from scratch. I have some manuals on order that should assist in this. My primary question: This tractor was converted to 12v negative ground at some point. It has a delco alternator. The starter looks to be original. When converting 6v positive ground to 12v negative ground, what do you do about the starter? Wouldn't 12v fry a 6v starter, and wouldn't it run backwards??? How will I go about figuring out the proper schematic for the charging circuit using the alternator?
