Generally 5hp you want a 60 amp service, & that takes at least a 6 wire, bigger if it is a longer run. You are going to have a light or 2, plus a 110 outlet.... If this is only for the motor & nothing ever else, look at the amp draw on the plate, & let us know the length of wire needed. Over 50 feet makes a difference, voltage drop is real hard on electric motors. I think 10 wire is for 30 amps, & I think that will be too light for you in any case? --->Paul
