I think the 327 intake would fit, but the oil tube at the front might get in the way of something. Also, depending on how old the 327 was, it might not have a nipple for the PCV a 400 needs. Wouldn't it be easier to just put the carb off the 327 on the 400 manifold that is already on the engine and hopefully is not leaking? It is a fairly big job to change the intake on a Chevy small block, but not too bad to change a carb. All of the stock 400 small blocks I have seen used a 2 barrel carb. I wouldn't be surprised if the 327 carb was smaller than the 400 carb, and if so, would cost some horsepower, especially at higher engine speeds. Or maybe a similar carb to the original 400 carb could be found as a rebuild and that would be sure to work. If the 400 has a 4 barrel intake on it, there are numerous carbs that will work. I like AFB's, but if the manifold is a spread bore, a Quadrajet is also a good, inexpensive carb. Good luck!
