Normally it will make one helluv a racket if it is the exhaust bent. The sound is the same as if you were running with one sparkplug removed. The compression/combustion will come back out into the intake manifold when the intake valve opens. If it is the intake bent the engine will run on three cylinders and the noise is not there. If the intake valve spring is weak some gas and air can be sucked in on the intake stroke and the cylinder will fire weakly. Seems to me pushrods on exhaust valves fail more frequently and without any explainable reason.
