I have a craftsman 18hp 42 inch mower w/6 speed manual transaxle(model #170269). I cut my grass yesterday w/no problems other than looking back now, the rear was a making a little noise. I went to put the tractor away and was coming up a very small grade(less that most of my yard) and started hearing a grinding noise and had very little forward movement. I checked and the rear was a little warm but I don"t know if that is normal because I never had the need too before. I went through all the gears including reverse and had the same result. I cleaned all the grass away from the rear, checked the drive belt and still the same. There is a little horizontal movement in the drive pulley(again, don"t know if that is normal). This just seemed to have come out of the blue. I never had any problem with this before and I have had the tractor for about 3 years. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
