I have a 53 NAA and one of the first things I did to it was take the 1 1/16 inch six spline shaft off and put the more modern 1 3/16 inch six spline shaft on. This is an easy fix. All the 20-30 years of splines are now 1 3/16 inch diameter. I hope this is what you need. Post back if this does not make sense and I am way off base.... Gerry p.s. you maybe able to get an adapter if you don't want to change out the shaft.
