I have an old Case 580B backhoe/loader with a transmission problem. Just a few months ago Grandpa had the tranny split and put about 2100.00 in parts unfortunaltly the tranny still did not work properly. The tranny was making some noise in 1-3 gears has no 4th gear. He let me borrow the backhoe and of course I am guessing that the gears are all gone now because the backhoe won't go in any gear now. I now have to repair the backhoe or buy the darn thing which he wants more for it than it is worth. lol Can anyone help? Is there a way to look into the tranny to see if it is something small or do I need to take the whole backend apart to split the tranny to see if it is the gears that need to be replaced. Help please... I am a female that has some mechanical skills but not on heavy equipment so I am so lost.
