O/T whoever owns a 6.5 turbo diesel head to Advanc

I know the topic of unskilled parts individuals has been brought up many times but I will post this for your humor. Yesterday I walked into Advanced Auto Parts, walked up to the counter and told the young lad I needed 8 GLOW PLUGS for a 1996 Gmc K3500 Automatic 4x4 6.5 turbo diesel. The lad says no problem walks in back brings out some boxes of auto lite spark plugs. I tell the young lad I need glow plugs he says yeah 6 plugs is there anything else. I say I need glow plugs he says yeah thats waht we have here 6 of them for you. I said well first off its an 8 cylinder. He says "well the computer shows you need 6. I said ok but I dont think those are the right ones. He asks if the vehicle is here I say yes he said lets go look. We go out and he climbs on my bumper w/his muddy feet looks around and he cannot find the spark plugs. Suprise suprise. He says I have never seen an engine like this. I try telling him there are 8 cylinders (counting the number of injector lines) and I need the little round "things" w/the electrical spade connector on them. He says "Ive never seen a spark plug like that". I tell him its a glow plug used to heat up the air to make it start. He goes back inside and pulls out some different spark plugs that he assures me are the correct ones. Also he asked if I would be needing new spark plug wires with those plugs. I saidI dont think those are the right ones either so back out to the parking lot where he tries to locate my spark plugs and wires but they "must be hidden" because he cant find them however we go back inside and he assures me those are the right ones and even shows me the computer. I went down to the dealer and paid through the ***. I know everyone cannot know everything, I also know i do not know much about foreign cars at all, everyone has to start somewhere etc etc, but shouldnt they put some people behind the counters who at least have a basic understanding of how things work and basically waht parts are on what type of vehicles. Like asking for a clutch and they ask you if it is an automatic or manual. After looking at the truck he still tries to sell me spark plugs that he cannot find??????I wish the old guy at the town napa wouldnt have retired. NOw all they sell are 4 inch exhausts for hondas. Ultimatley though the heads of of the story is your local advanced auto parts store has spark plugs for your 6.5 diesel for sale and this week they are ON SALE. Stock up while you can. (
