Allan, Try plowing snow for 20 hours in one of them and you'll have a sore right foot and a non-functional left knee. Seriously though, if the throttle seems really hard to hold down then somebody might have tried working the throttle by hand from under the hood and tripped the interlock on the return spring. Kinda hard to explain but if you look at the linkage at the carb there is a spring wound around it and a hook that has to lock onto a pin to make the linkage halves work together. The pedal effort should be very light if this linkage is ok. HTH Jf
