I know my Woods M5 will cut a lot bigger stuff than the manual says, if I gear down and run over it two or three times. Be aware that you are imposing loads on the bearings and gearbox that the machine is not really designed for. It'll do it, if you're swinging it with enough horsepower, but you'll also beat it to death that much faster. I've been pretty lucky. My gearbox and bearings are still in pretty good shape after 11 years of that sort of abuse, but the deck is shot, more weld than metal, and brittle as heck. Problem is, a new deck (if available) is about 75% of the cost of a new machine.
