Now John, I ALWAYS listen to you, you know that! :>) It isn't the exhaust that makes the noise. It is that dag-goned "diesel whack" noise that these things make. That insistant "hammer on the anvil" sound. I really think that is why IH covered up the sides of their engines on the later models 'cause you can tell the sound of an IH 400 engine a mile away. Wears on a guy. :>( Allan
