Well, remember, you asked. Yes I think that anyone hauling a couple of tractors, on a decent size trailer with a pick-up should go through all the BS, and get a CDL. I cringe every time I go on the road thinking that I could get creamed by some idiot that doesn't really have a grasp of what he's driving. I don't care what anyone says, as soon as you put a trailer on, what you learned in drver's ED goes out the window. I've been around equipment all my life, and have respect for how things work. I've had my AZ since I was 18, and drove truck to pay for school. The only times I've ever had any close calls were with week-end warriors and their travel trailers. If you want to hunt, you need a license. If you fly, you need a licence. So why should just anyone be allowed on a public highway with 32000 lbs. of potential disaster behind them without the proper training and certification. It doesn't make sense. And as far as farmers, I think that they should comply as well, they're using public roads. I'm a farmer, and go out of my way to meet or exceed the requirements. Besides, farmers are smarter than the average person, and should have no problem with the test. And to those who say that they can't afford it, well, I'd rather put money into fixing up equipment than paying fines. My two cents and then some.
