Tedders work great, even on straight alfalfa. It takes a little bit to get to know how to use them though. I beat all the leaves off my alfalfa ONCE. THEN GOT GOOD ADVISE; Ted early am the day after cutting, while the dew is still on,and that's all. If Your alfalfa gets rained on, tedding once will shed the water and save it, but you need to rake it with dew on then or you will only have stems.
