HI

Make sure that the scope is in good working order, Always shoot groups of three. If by chance she is not grouping than fallow what Bill in TN. is saying, but I'll add to this I locktight all the rings and srews. I'll add yes best to start at closer range. If you still have trouble grouping make sure of your shells , loads etc. . All ways finsh at a longer range distance for shotgun I would say 50 - 100 yds. if you are looking to shoot at a longer distance e-mail me and I'll give you an idea of about how much energy and drop you have, shotgun slugs start to run out of energy fast. You should have at least 1,000 lbs. of energy to kill a average 200 lb. white- tail, 1200-1300 is Ideal . SO basics are 20 ga. 100yds. 16 ga. 100yds. 12 ga. (2 3/4) 100yds. 12 ga. (3) 125 yds. 12 ga (3 1/2)
150 yds. Some of these higher end loads have a huge recoil, watch if your in a tree stand. I love to rifle hunt in PA but we are going to end up with shotguns in the end, so I researched in allot and I'll say I'll shot a 20 ga open sights out to about 50 yds. and be happy with that; (Fun to shoot not much recoil feel better out of a tree stand). Loaded some 12 Ga. one time but the recoil was around 75-80 lbs. that was too much for me, I would have to be tied to the tree. But for now I'll shoot with a rifle a much better killer for any range any way.

Best of luck your season is about to start soon.
