The tractor should be negative ground, unless somebody changed it. As far as the battery is concerned, the 4DLT is the correct battery. A standard 4D is too tall, as is the modern group 31. I think the only other batterys that will fit under the hood are the car type which have neither the cranking amps, reserve capacity, or the ability to withstand the vibration in that environment. So, the 4DLT is the best bet in my view. I would expect no more than 5 years service from the NewHolland/Exide batterys. 3-4 is more typical. So if you have another favorite brand, I think I'd try that. I'm partial to Delco myself. HTH. Rod
