Hey Allen. Hope the wife is on the road to recovery. We have certainly had her in our prayers. I bought a 12" auger (Bush Hog) from the local New Holland Dealer for use on my rock farm in Kentucky. It works great. I put it on behind my old Allis WD and I have never had a problem. The neighbor tells me that they make diamond cutter teeth for these augers, and they really improve the drill time. I have drilled through layered rock with mine and I have never sheared the pin. I have had the auger stick on the side of a rock and go out of sight. I just shut off the PTO and rock the tractor back and forth until I can drag it out of the ground. That ought to get some of the old hands on here cringing! Check the cutting teeth before you spend more money. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it helps.
