Mornin Allan, Ya, I`ve used them 3pt augers and an auger mounted on the front of a bobcat. Bobcat wins, hands down. I think it`s all to do with the down pressure thing. Now, that is a mighty fine lookin critter as well. I respect how you don`t have a great love for the equine thing, but have objectively sized up the situation. I don`t know if I`d dump him or not, probably leave that up to the wife when she`s recuperated. Since you`re so far into this horse financially, I`d look for an older, plain jane, broke to death gelding for her to hone her riding skills on. Cutting horses are trained different than pleasure horses. Alot is done with foot pressure, body position, etc. Even an experienced trail rider could send all the wrong signals and cues to a cutting horse, thus making a bad situation. If she`s determined to ride him, suggest she find a couple other people to ride with who know their way around a cutting horse. They could give her pointers. If the rider is nervous, I think there is a certain safety in being with others. Who knows, if the missus figures him out, they could be quite the useful pair to have around the place. First things first, I hope the wife heals up great and all goes well, things will sort themselves out from there. Brokenwrench
