I haven't dealt with those particular valves, as I've not had a reason too. But, in general, a ball type relief valve can have a bad seat or simply have some dirt on the seat that will prevent proper closure. Just take it apart and look at it. If there's a problem, it should be obvious. Relief valves also tend to chatter a lot when they are blowing off. The ball will chatter on the seat as it opens and closes rapidly. I would expect that the pump gears/housing are your problem. This would not be at all uncommon. These pumps are not noted for durability.... HTH. Rod
