Dealing on 60ish Fords

I was driving down the hwy today. I saw a blue ford at the samller time tractor dealers on the side of the interstate. Dealer claims it's a 1964 Ford 4000. It looks like it has been better than average taken care of.

I make this claim based on owning a 59 Ford 661. It's amazing how much stuff is the same on the two of them.

The new on has been recently repainted. The seat is too high for me. The back of the tire shows gray paint. The fenders have had some rust come through the newer paint. But the fenders are sturdy, unlike the ones on my 59 661.

The rubber on the new one is pretty fair. It's 12V. It has no PS. It's a five speed. It has a control valve for a remote but no hose.

The new one would not start. Dealer claimed people stole the gas out of it. He was talking about carb problems. I've had plenty of carb problems with my 59, so I know the dealer could be on the level. BTW it's a gas engine and the needle valve and the line from the tank are problematic.

One thing interesting about the new fuel line was it was rubber. My old ford has a copper line. The fuel line runs real close to the maniford on the side of the engine. Is this a safe place for rubber fuel lines.

My old 661 is 36 HP. I think he said the new one is 43 or 47. Paint on the old one needs help real bad. One of my old fenders is wobbly. Rear Rubber on the old boy has seen better days.

The old machine starts and runs real well. Mechanically the old machine is pretty dependable and reliable. It's got a new seat, the five speed tranny and live power. My repair man claims my 661 is a bit of a rare tractor. It's missing the ford emblem. The old on has one leak where the brake thing goes through the chassis.

If I tell him he's got to replace the remote hose, can you think of any way I can easlily test that it works?

How can I be sure the 3pt will lift my dirt scoop full of rock?

He says he's going to have his mechanic out Tuesday to get the 64 running Wednesday. I'm going to drive it and listen to the motor.
How much money would you think the trade would require? He's got to drive at least an hour, one-way, to see the old one. I want him to haul the new in and the old out.
