I am quessing that this is a gas motor.I would say the key switch is not hooked to the coil or the switch is bad.the second red wire at the alternator should not be wired to the key.it should be connected to the other red wire at the back of the alternator,the white wire should be hooked to the key.you will need a warning light in the white wire circuit,if you dont put the warning light in the circuit the engine will not shut off when you turn the key off.
