I have to agree with you, Chad. What you outline is probably the way it will go. One only has to look at the electronics industry in this country to see the path that ag equipment will likely follow. It's all too easy to throw blame around for something like this.... but blame isn't always appropriate. Part of what we're seeing in ag equipment lines is merely a reflection of a changing world. Agriculture, especially in the US and Canada, has been so productive that it has become a shrinking market for equipment sales. As equipment got bigger, we didn't need as much of it. Like it or not, we are linked with the rest of the world economically, and a larger portion of our goods is going to come from overseas. Large parts of the auto industry almost went under in the face of imports a couple of decades ago, and other industries, like textiles, have been in big trouble for a long time. The US enjoyed several years of "plenty" following WWII while Europe and Japan were rebuilt (largely with our dollars!)and now these countries are in a position to have major impact on our economy. I guess we're probably going to have to get used to a lot more of this.
