I was talking to my family last night at the dinner table about all the eliminations of personal freedoms lately done in the name of "good" and how our founding fathers would turn over in their graves at them. The Constitutional Amendment banning the desecration of the US Flag was one. I would NEVER do this myself, but feel we "should" be able to speak out on governement we think is out of control. The US Senator said it best - they are too concerned with the flag as a symbol - and not what it stands for. Well said I thought. Wire tapping without a public Judges approval - all in the name of National Security (yeah right!). Further banning gun ownership to the point we can't defend ourselves from the crooks who get them all too easily. "Special" tags proposed in one state for cars of people who have been convicted of DWI twice - so police can pull them over any time for no reason to check them out (even though it seems like a good idea - that is GUILTY until proven INNOCENT - a big no-no to our founding fathers and one step closer to communism in my eyes). And now this. It is remenant of old revelutionary era England isn't it? Just my $.02 worth.
