O.T. Geo Metro Timing Update

Found out the cause of the problem I posted earlier about no spark on number 1 cylinder. Someone had installed the wrong distributor. Got the correct part number distributor (looks the same as the wrong part number distributor) and problem went away. Apparently the brain box controls the timing and advance and must be paired with the right electronic distributor. Lesson learned. Thanks to those who posted suggestions.
