depending on what size you are talking about i have heard bad things about the perkins engine but good on the cummins and yanmar. walker shorck the local ih dealer (we usually ship most case work out if we get one in) said they have been having problems with the transmissions in hard pulls. they could not at all figure it out. in the shop on the dyno, w/hydraulic prssure guages everything checked out. get it back out in the real world operators kept complaining that it woudl slop out of gears. couldnt figure it out couldnt figure it out finally after knocking around ideas and talking to the big boys they figured out that in a hard pull that they could pull the motor down enough to cut the hydraulic flow enough that it would come out of gear. ended up having to put bigger pumps on it and reclaibrate the computer. that is what i was told about them when i was over there......all ive heard
