Case Int'l/Haban Mower Deck Problems

I have a 1986 Case IH 235H Diesel tractor with a Haban HA60MP-5 60" Mid PTO rotary lawn mower deck. I bought it used and it has worked fine for 4 years. Last fall however the output shaft (which attaches to the Mid PTO via the female slip assembly) pulled out of the gear box. The miter gear that attaches to this shaft drives a 90 deg shaft which drives a pulley for the blades. So I rebuilt the gear box replacing the bearings, oil seals and clip rings. It worked for three outings and came out again. I then figured the housing may be to blame as it was damaged some from the shaft pulling out, so I replaced it. A few more lawn mowings and it pulled out again. The clip ring again failed inside the gear box allowing the shaft to slip out of the miter gear and pull the oil seal and bearing with it. I figured maybe the shaft was worn where the clip ring seats so I replaced the shaft. Tonight was my third mowing and again I looked and the oil seal has pulled out and most of the gear box oil spilled. I'm sure the clip ring holding the miter gear on the output shaft has failed again. Obviously, there is some force causing the failure that wasn't there before and replacing gearbox parts is not working. A new gear box complete is about $400 from Haban. My dilemma is should I buy the new gear box or consider using the $400 toward a new mower deck? The tractor has 475 hours on it so I assume the mower deck has about the same. There is wear on the mower deck which allows more play than when it was new. Maybe that wear is allowing the mower deck to slop around and putting additional stress on the whole PTO shaft connection and causing the clip ring to fail. Haban does have the complete gear box. I just don't want to buy one and then have the same problem. I have greased everything, the blade bearings are fine, the PTO male/female connection is greased, the front and back mower height is set at the same height. I would appreciate any insight you may have to resolve this problem. The grass is growing on 3 acres as we speak!
