Thanks for everyones comments. I had a few more questions to ask. The problem started a couple of years ago. The motor started running rough. I put the 1937 Model A John Deere away for a couple of years. Stored inside always. Took it out and started it. Runs rough. Installed 2 new rebuilt carburators, new rebuilt magneto, new plugs and wires, still no change. Pulled head and piston. Lapped valves and checked for stuck rings on piston thinking low compression. Reassembled. Gapped valve tappets and set magneto timing to mark on fly wheel-still same problem. When running and opening cylinder pet cocks, the right side exhausts hot. The left side is warm to cool. This is at any RPM. Once in a while both cylinders will fire as they should but doesn"t last long and back to same. Put a spark tester on left cylinder and it fires as it should. Stumped as to what else to do. Rockin farmer gave some good info, maybe you"ve got some more. Thanks, Roy
