some glowplugs stick out of the head some and you can feel them to see if warm ,with key on... or put a test light to each lead to see if getting current. they usually have 12 volts to them thru the wire and the body of the glowplug is ground so you can take them out and test them,they get red hot if working properly.i put a set in a mercedes 4 cyl deisel yesterday that were drawing to much amperage and shuttin off at the relay.useing test light at each glowplug i saw relay supplied current for 3 seconds per turn of the key,then shut off current.i knew it was either the relay or the glowplugs,but had never seen a bad relay .tried new set of glow plugs fixed her up.... lucas
