Fellas, you have no idea how relieved these pictures made me feel. Four months ago, out of the blue, we started another career, market-farming on a few acres in central Alabama to sell at a farmstand and at farmers' markets. We come from the city side of life, and so at the moment this is sort of a waking dream, day after day trying to imagine what the farm will look like. And as I talk to people about what tractor to buy, one fellow after another my age and older (the other side of 50) tells me stories like yours about how they farmed as youngsters driving Farmalls and what great workhorses they were. And how they might be just the ticket for our little operation. But, being such small and light tractors compared to the others, I couldn't quite understand or appreciate their value until I saw these pictures this morning and read you guys's posts about farming with them back in the 50s. Ah-ha!! So THAT'S what it looks like! The off-center thing really DOES work! and they DO cultivate like that. Yeah!! So right now I'm dedicating this farm to all of you out there who might have had it a bit rough back then but were glad for what you had (or maybe are glad NOW for what you had then.) I'm hoping a little of that spirit rubs off on me and settles over our humble farm. What goes around is comin' around.
Thanks a whole lot! Now to get back to the Farmall ads. I was thinking Cub, but now that I see the H in action, hmmmm. . .
Bill
