The best method for adjusting valves in ANY engine is as follows. This is how we adjust them in engines from lawn mowers to drag race engines and is the most accurate way possible. Start at the front of the engine and work back. (1)Roll the engine over until the first valve is opened to the farthest point.(2)find or make a mark on the pulley for a reference and turn the engine over exactly one full turn lining the mark up with its previous position.(3) now the valve is completely closed and the cam lobe is facing straight away from the lifter, you can now adjust the valve.(4) Now roll the engine until the 2nd valve is completely open, then while watching the pulley again, turn the engine exactly one full turn again.(5) now you can adjust that valve.(6) now that you understand the procedure, do the same with each valve until they all are adjusted. I guarantee that you will have perfect adjustment when you are through. This is easier when the plugs are removed to make the engine turn easy.
