This has a male and female 1 3/8 - 6 spine input and output, and a cylinder about 4-5 inches diameter, by a couple inches long, with a zerk fitting in it for greasing. The cylinder is held together on the input side by a big internal snap ring. There is definitely something inside it, and it is supposed to be an overrunning coupler. I am thinking that it maybe was made too tight and something needs to wear in. Are you supposed to be able to turn one in the over-running direction by hand? There were several in the shelf at the store (3 hour ride), but they all were too tight to turn by hand, so I assumed they were supposed to be that way. I am really tempted to take it apart and see what is up, but I don't know if there is a big mama spring inside there holding things in place.
