I may sound like a fraidy-cat, but I would never want to try loading a narrow front tractor with ramps unless it was securely attached to the truck and had some kind of non-skid surfacing on it. I have seen a lot of guys do it though. I get a liitle skittish even when using a loading dock. I worked for a dealer and did a lot of equipment hauling. I have had or seen a lot of close calls. I personally would not go to a show that didn't have a dock. I agree with the other post about finding a ditch or bank if there is no dock. As for chaining the tractor, I would use 3/8 chain. I usually put a snap binder on the front of the tractor and a screw binder on the rear. I would bolt a bracket to the front frame rail with a loop to run the chain through. That way you wont scratch the paint. At the rear, put a clevis on the drawbar and run the chain through that. Ratchet straps will rub and scuff the paint.
