It is VERY hard to find documented original tractors like that. Only 46 years? Can you remember every event or problem you've had in the last 10 years, let alone 46 if you're that old? Maybe the speed-hour meter quit due to a broken cable back in '53 and the farmer did another 50 hours of planting before getting it fixed, and he may not remember that. Not to mention that mechanical speed-hour meters are only accurate at RATED engine speed. If the guy putted around at half-speed, it will have twice as many hours as are shown. And why only 2500 hours? I've seen tractors with 8000 well-maintained hours that I would write a check for before ones with 4000 hours. Tractors don't have titles, so there is no definitive way to document past ownership in most cases. There aren't too many original-owner 2-bangers out there. Why? Because anyone that went out and bought a brand-new tractor then was pretty likely to continue to buy new and trade off the old through the years - trade the original "A" in on a new 620, the 620 in on a new 4010, the 4010 in on a new 4020, etc. My advice would be to find a tractor, do a thorough checkover of it to make sure it's in the the condition you desire, and take any "history" with a grain of salt.
