: MICHAEL I've got a 1946 2N with starter problems as well. I got one of the new ratchet type starter assemblies and put it on the end of the old starter motor shaft. The starter assembly replaces the old Bendix spring style. The one I picked up had been actuated (the pinion has been moved toward the motor, as it would while starting, but remains there until 'reset' by the engine kicking in), so it won't fit into the casting. I'm told that I need to spin the starter shaft to 'reset' the starter assembly, but so far I haven't figured out how to do that yet. If you've got a ratchet style starter assembly as well, you might be having the same problem. I was also told that I may have to grind about 1/8" of material out of the casting in order to fit the new starter assembly inside, but so far I haven't been able to determine whether I have to do this or not. If you ever find out how to 'reset' the starter assembly, could you let me know? Thanks. Glenn
