cub cadet original

I have, I think ,an original cub cadet lawn tractor. From the pictures it looks like a 1961 version. Can any one tell me if 80-90weight gear oil will be ok for rear axle and transmission. It seems like there is a filler and drain hole for both rear end and transmission. Are these two separate compartments and same fluid ok for both? Thanks in advance
