Dennis, What you manual is talking about are bars that go from the end of the 11 hole hitch bar on the three point arms to the top link and hold the lift arms at a set height. This held the hitch bar a one height so the trailer / manure spreader couldn't lift the hitch as the load shifted to the rear. With the bars in place the 3pt arms couldn't move with out damaging something - usually the bars bent. The bars that Jack is talking about go on the ends of the 3pt implement and then to brackets under the fenders. These bars keep the 3pt and implement from swaying side to side and are used with implements other than plows and some cultivators to make the unit more stable. Since they pivot at both ends like the 3pt arms they move with no damage to the tractor.
