My guess is that the electric is the only thing that would discourage them. We do not have them here. Most would say that a 30-30 is not especially good for varmits, but it is what I keep at hand. Last week shot a groundhog with it. Back to the fence, place one wire about 6" off the earth, make it the hot wire. Place one 6" above that, make it the ground. Then another hot 6" higher. Continue to a height greater than the hog can jump. Anything that goes through will connect between two of the wires. Use a charger with at least 5000 volts.
