If it's a 3 cylinder, and actually a 1974, then it's an Oliver 1265, and it's 43PTO HP.

To use the dual range, you simply center the gear shifter, and run it either up or down through a 'gate' to access the other range. You'll feel resistance, but just go ahead and apply a little extra pressure, and the shifter will slide though to the other range. To decide what range you're currently in, just shift to 3/6, and decide if it's road gear, or 3rd. If you're now in 3rd, to access high range, go to neutral, center the lever, and pull it back towards you, or, if you're now in road gear, to access low range, shift to neutral, center the lever, and shove it forward away from you. It becomes second nature in no time.

The tranny in those tractors also has a lock on the shifter to keep it from jumping out of gear; you apply sideways pressure(towards your left knee, sitting in the seat) to shift out of any gear.

Another nice feature in those trannies is that they're synchonized between 2nd & 3rd, and 5th & 6th gears; no need to double clutch to downshift.

You've got yourself a sweet lil tractor.
