I don't know what they were initially for, but my junk drawer has several switches that make two separate connections with the throw of a single switch. One claims to be rated at 20 amps (but has an "off" connection in the middle, so it's actually 3 position). I don't think you'd have any trouble finding one w/ only two positions. I think connecting the two inputs together (and to the field connectin in your case) would give you what you want? One output goes directly to ground, the other through a robust resistor?
