I have 4 tractors from 30 to 80 hp 3 diesel and one gas. I only use 15w-40 oil in all tractors and all vehicles on the farm including highway; have been since 15w-40 came out (roughly 15 or so years ago). This is heavy duty oil and holds oil pressure hot (when plowing in summer)whereas the automotive types (10-30 and 10-40 thin out hot). Maybe it's no big deal, but I like to see 40 to 50 lbs of oil pressure on my bearings when I'm working em. When I can only see 5 or 10 lbs at idle, I don't like it. The mfgrs. specs. for Cat/Mack/Cummins diesel engines are good enough for me and on the Walmart 2 gallon oil container for $7.50 you can get them including SJ rating for gasoline engines. So spend what you want for oil. Wallyworld is a great value in my book. Mark
