Sounds like a good truck and being from a fire
dept. I bet it was really taken care of. Hope
you have luck getting the cummins diesel in. The
truck I have was used in our company pulling
gooseneck trailer and backhoe. At the time we
used it it was a lot stronger than the other
Ford 1 tons we had. I remember that we had to
put another engine in due to overheating and cracking heads. This was before we had all the
diesel 1 tons. We still have the truck and
retired it to farm and shop use. It was just not
economical to run anymore. I do remember that
the rearend seemed larger than the other 1 tons
so maybe it was like yours. I do know it would
carry alot of weight on it with no trouble.
These were good old trucks thats why we kept it
to maybe restore someday. Keep us posted on
your progress. Hope you can sell that motor they
were put in alot of IH trucks.
