The trade name "Farmall" denotes a row-crop type of tractor. Made to work in fields with mounted tools such as cultivators or pull type implements where you needed to adjust the tractor's wheel spacings to drive between rows of crops. Also they sit higher for crop clearance.
Utility type tractors generally don't have the adjustable rear tire spacing and sit lower to the ground. Utility's are fine for plowing, discing and other field work that don't need crop clearance and are more desirable for some attachments such as loaders.
My personal preference is the row-crop because I like sitting higher where I can see what's going on around me, and can see what's coming such as, groundhog holes, rocks etc.
I don't see much row-crop work done around here anymore. The only thing I see is cultivating tobacco and a little sweet corn here and there.
