I was having trouble cutting heavy alfalfa with a swather (haybine) because of dandelions and it was wet underneath, a few mouse nests too. I put on a set of guards that don't stick out ahead of the sections and that have hold downs on every section. Plugging problems were over. Since we were near a highway, plastic bags were occasionally a problem. I'll bet that a disc mower would eat that stuff right up. Ed
