I mow pasture on 110 acres that is in a grass program, trying to keep the cedars from taking over and keep some of the weeds out. If all went well I make ten dollars and acre working out to around $50 dollars an hour. This has been fine and dandy for five years. This year has been expensive and I'm much in the hole. Breakdowns have been killing me. This in large due to the oil lease. Those people simply don't care about the land, what they throw onto it or the holes they leave behind. I came accross 480v single phase strung out on the ground from one pump to another. Looked like a long black snake slithering up into the bruch hog. Don't know how long I spent cutting that out of the spindle. Never did see or hear any sparks out of the deal and since that power has been trenched in. Hit a hole this spring that had been dug by a backhoe. Apparently they didn't find what they were looking for picked up and went on leaving the hole unfilled behind. I discussed it with the oil man and was told he wouldn't do such a thing, must have been left by the man before him. Cost me $400 for a the front bolster and a lot of search of salvage yards from coast to coast. Also learned the value of a good walk. Met a lot of good people, found this site and a world of info. But still wished I hadn't hit that damm hole. Springtown Spark
