Well, I've got some activity. I made some calls, a local (Twin Cities) news station ran a live broadcast from our house last night. They were supposed to do it Monday but it got moved to last night. I let a few people know this was going to happen and guess what? Got some action. Had an investigator assigned to the case, he stopped by last night and is going to talk to the neighbors and see what he can find out. I've been told our case has the involvement of some of the top people in the county now. Left for work this morning and there was a car parked in the field road....a cop car....stopped and talked to the officer and thanked him. He said they found another field road up the road a bit they didn't know was there and will be keeping their eye on that also. Cops now want to find the guy because it's been reported in the news. My hope is this guy has been seen in the neighborhood before and someone has some information that will help the police - may also think twice about coming by our place for a while with increased police activity. The investigator said cases like this are very rare, (that's comforting) but thought we might have a good chance because of the uniqueness of the vehicle and our location - in the country - people notice things out of place. A couple of people thought it might be stupid to do this, I don't have much to lose, the guy knows where we live, our schedule, etc.
I'll be installing a full yard light as well as motion sensors in the back of the house, may also have a few other surprises for him.
I just hope my experience can maybe help someone else down the road. The thing I've learned is be calm (easier said than done), call the cops, then take action if you need to. If I'd have done that there's a good chance we might have caught him right away.
Thank you all again for your help and advice, if I get any news I'll post.
