To get a "new" JD serial number plate, you need to contact your dealer with the serial number. He will then fill out a form and send it to his AMPS (Area Manager Product Support) who will then request a Duplicate plate from the factory. Here on the Construction and Forestry side of JD a Deere person must do the actual installation of the plate. This helps prevent theft by re serial numbering a stolen unit. I just did this procedure for an old 420C two cylinder crawler in Springfield IL. Your plate will look "modern" not old.
