This is an interesting topic. Back in the mid 60's, I spent a couple weeks helping a local dealer out while he was short on help. Was sent out to one farmers place with a 3020 to demo it to him. While I was there the salesman arrived to talk to him and look at his possible trade-in. I was along as he checked it over, and heard him explain th the farmer that with the 4500 hours the tractor had, figuring an hour on the tractor equal to 60 miles on a car or pickup, the tractor had 270,000 miles on it. I listened with interest as they visited about it. A few weeks later the farmer traded to a 3020 Diesel. The trade-in was put through the dealership and reconditioned and resold with new warranty. I don't know all that was done, but I know it was overhauled. By fall Dad was looking at trading tractors and ended up buying that tractor. To the day he died, it was his pride and joy. Through the years it was overhauled one more time in 73, and had another 4 tachs replaced. I now have that tractor, and have also went through the transmission and rearend and reshimed everything. Adding all the tach hours together puts it over 17,000 hours, and well you do the math. Oh, by the way, its a 1959 John Deere 630. I'm sure there are tractors out there with many more that this even!
