Jim is correct. A "full" trailer would be one that the entire load is supported on the trailer running gear, such as on a hayrack. The truck or tractor only provides power to pull it. A "semi" trailer splits the load between the trailer axles and the axles on the unit pulling it. It seems to me that nearly all "semi" trailers are now just referred to as trailers, while all "full" trailers are now referred to as wagons.
