A few thousand dollars won't get anything but an old tractor, and although most of the people around here know how to keep them running i don't think an old tractor will be what you want or need.

You are looking for a newer tractor with modern features, and i agree it is what you need, but you just can't gut one "worth haveing" even used for less than "around" $10,000.00. Yes, i've seen some "deals" but in general 10K is pretty close for a "used" 4wd 30hp compact tractor with a loader and power steering. You really don't need a hydrostat transmission, but you'd probably like one if you drove one one time!!

Personally, i don't think a compact tractor is worth owning if it doesn't have 4wd, "especially" if you are even thinking of putting a loader on it!!!

Most new people just don't realize that a tractor cost as much as a good car (or more) and are shocked when they see the prices!! The only thing i can tell them is, how much will your car be worth in 10 or 15 years??? The tractor will still be worth much of it's origional value, if not all of what you paid for it!

Best advice i can give you is, save up more money, and don't buy a chinese made tractor just because they are cheaper!

Robert

Today's Featured Article - Tractor Hydraulics - The Basics - by Curtis Von Fange. Hydraulics was one of the greatest inventions for helping man compound the work he can do. It’s amazing how a little floor jack can lift tons and tons of weight with just the flick of a handle. What’s even more amazing is that all the principals of hydraulic theory can be wrapped up in such a small package. This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul ...
