Do You seriously run that O-300 at full RPM -ALL THE TIME? Or do you adjust the RPM to match what you are doing,i.e. takeoff power, cruise power, landing power? No engine is designed to be run at full throttle for a great length of time. Most Aircraft engines I've operated only allowed full takeoff power for up to 3 minutes and then a reduction to lower RPM/manifold pressure is required before damage occurs. High RPM means shortened life for aircraft an engine or at least shortened TBO (time between overhaul).
